What are my favorite wedding venues ?

Wedding tips

Planning a wedding is an exciting journey, and choosing the perfect venue is a crucial part of it. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of visiting and photographing at some incredible wedding venues. What these venues have in common is their accessibility (close to airports), luxury, and the unique charm they bring to any celebration. While I could mention iconic places like the Château de Versailles, I prefer to highlight some lesser-known gems that offer unforgettable experiences.

Château de Champlâtreux
An 18th Century Castle, Château de Champlâtreux, is a stunning example of 18th-century architecture built by Jean-Michel Chevotet between 1751 and 1757. Located just fifteen minutes from Charles de Gaulle Airport and half an hour from the heart of Paris, this castle offers both convenience and grandeur. Initially built as a country home for the Molé family, the château has been passed down through generations and is now the home of the Duc de Noailles.

The château's four large reception rooms and vast decors make it ideal for celebrations, seminars, or film shoots. The French-style formal gardens, designed by Chevotet and later transformed into a landscape garden, provide a picturesque backdrop for wedding photos. In case of bad weather, the beautiful interiors ensure that the celebration can continue seamlessly. Additionally, the nearby Saint-Eutrope 18th-century chapel offers a charming venue for wedding ceremonies.

Fontanelle Estate
Fontanelle Estate in Tuscany, near Siena, epitomizes understated luxury and the essence of "la dolce vita." This exclusive venue accepts a limited number of weddings each year, ensuring a personalized and intimate experience. The estate features two hotels, The Club House and Hotel Le Fontanelle, offering refined and modern accommodations.

Guests can enjoy various amenities, including a panoramic outdoor swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, golf driving range, and a luxurious spa. The estate's restaurants, Osteria Il Tuscanico and Il Visibilio (a Michelin-starred restaurant), provide exceptional dining experiences with Tuscan and Italian cuisine. The Wellness Sanctuary offers a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate amidst the natural beauty of the Chianti region. This venue is ideal for couples looking for a romantic and luxurious setting for their wedding and future anniversaries.

Château de Villette
Known as "Le Petit Versailles," Château de Villette is located 40 minutes from Paris and is one of France's most remarkable châteaux. Designed by François Mansart and Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the architects behind Versailles, and with gardens by André Le Nôtre, this venue exudes elegance and luxury. The château has hosted many celebrities and was even a source of inspiration for Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code."

Château de Villette offers seven luxurious suites designed by renowned interior decorator Jacques Garcia. The interiors reflect the Louis XV era, with the finest period furniture and objets d'art. The 75-hectare woodland park, two lakes, a magnificent cascade fountain, and a glasshouse provide stunning backdrops for wedding photos. The combination of historical significance, architectural beauty, and natural surroundings makes this venue a dream location for weddings.

Château Saint Joseph
Nestled in the south of France, Château Saint Joseph is a Haussmann-style castle built in 1879. Located about an hour's drive from Toulouse Airport and close to the medieval city of Carcassonne, this venue combines the prestige of a historic residence with the bucolic charm of a verdant setting. The château features luxurious accommodations, including a 4-star gîte, and a beautiful orangerie for receptions.

The castle's pink stone façade, slate roofs, and elegant interiors with high ceilings, parquet floors, and ornate chandeliers create a sophisticated atmosphere for any event. The extensive grounds, which include a forest and a panoramic view of the Pyrenees, provide a serene and picturesque setting for wedding celebrations. The peaceful environment, free from noise disturbances, allows guests to enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of the venue.

Château Bayard
Château Bayard holds a special place in my heart as it is the venue where I got married. Located near Brussels, this château is surrounded by water and offers a fairytale setting. Despite its more modest exterior compared to some French châteaux, it boasts beautiful interiors and can accommodate guests in case of bad weather. The bridal suite, known as the Queen's Chamber, is particularly stunning.

The château's history dates back to 1390, and it has been beautifully restored to host weddings and events. The grand hall, grand salon, salon des 4 saisons, salon des arts, and orangerie offer various spaces for different parts of the celebration. The extensive grounds, including a private forest and scenic views, provide a perfect backdrop for wedding photos. The peaceful environment and historical charm make Château Bayard an ideal venue for a memorable wedding.
